SEWER CLOGS |

BLOCKED SEWER DRAINMost of the time SEWER LINES get clogged or BLOCKED due to a blockage of the sanitary sewer line between the home and the City's main sewer line. Blockages in sewers are usually caused by problems with the main sewer line. Pipe settlement, misaligned joints, roots growth or pipe collapse are common causes of stoppages. Sewer stoppages can also be caused by cooking grease, rags, paper towels, napkins or pieces of solid debris that have been flushed down a household drain. If you have a clogged sewer, your floor drain or your basement shower will usually back first, signalling a problem within your sewer system. The sewage usually rises within the piping system and over flow may appear around the floor drain, basement shower or basement toilet or even the location where the house trap is situated. You can prevent a major flood by limiting the amount of water used in the house until you have the sewer line checked by a sewer & drain cleaning company. CLOGGED SEWER DUE TO ROOTSTree roots seek nutrients that can be found in the water running through the sewer line. They make their way into the sewer line through small cracks in the sewer line or the joints of the sewer line. The tree roots can cause major damage to the sewer line and can even cause a collapse in the sewer line. The nutrients that a root receives from the sewer water helps it to grow stronger and bigger. As the tree roots grow bigger and stronger, they can either cause frequent sewer stoppages or may even cause the sewer line to collapse. CLEANING UP THE SEWAGE OVERFLOWPump out the sewage water by draining it into the sewer line or by pumping it. Just make sure, you do not push any debris into the sewer line while draining the sewer water. PREVENTING SEWER BACKUPSAvoid putting inappropriate objects into your plumbing pipes through toilets or other sewer drains.Make sure that water drains away from your basement walls. Examine sidewalks, patios, decks and driveways. These can settle over time and cause water to drain towards your basement walls. Do a preventative maintenance for your sewer line on regular basis. Keep floor drain clean and easy to reach. Don't cover by concrete slab or tiles, or carpet. |
